Fit ledger — need → measured evidence

TEACHING, PRESENTING
AI Tracking 2.0 follows head, body or objects on a real PTZ mount — the most responsive tracking of any webcam here.
HANDS-FREE CONTROL
Voice and gesture controls re-aim the camera mid-session without touching a keyboard.
BUILT-IN AUDIO
A triple MEMS mic array with five audio modes, including spatial and directional pickup — the best built-in mic system tested.
TINY ON THE DESK
37 × 37 × 49 mm and 63 g — the smallest 4K AI PTZ webcam on the market.
LOW LIGHT
A 1/1.28-inch sensor at f/1.8 — second in sensor area only to the Razer's 1/1.2-inch across everything compared.
SMOOTH 1080P
120fps at 1080p (4K caps at 30fps) for fluid motion when you are moving in frame.

The catch — co-equal billing, always

The Lite does most of it for $169. The Tiny 3 Lite has the same core AI tracking in a 1/2-inch sensor package for half the money, and the $349 here is full list again after a summer promo at ~$296. You are paying for sensor area and the mic array, not for the tracking itself.

Dealbreaker? Runner-up №1 is that Lite, at half the price ↓

Every product has a catch. Verdicts that hide it are how bad buys happen.

Don't buy this if…

  • you need a webcam specifically for streaming or content creation at 60fps with studio-grade color
  • you want to use a mirrorless camera or DSLR as their webcam via capture cardmirrorless cameras under 2000 dossier →
  • you need a conference room camera for group meetings (wide-angle, speaker tracking for 4+ people)
  • your real problem is being heard clearly, not seen clearlyusb microphones under 200 dossier →

Wrong product for you is still a bad buy. These are the cases where we'd send you somewhere else.

Traps — this verdict avoids

Why the OBSBOT Tiny 3 is right for you

It avoids every trap below — and for just me, no budget cap, it is the pick because it delivers:

Teaching, presenting Hands-free control Built-in audio Tiny on the desk Low light
Trap 01

The 4K illusion

Zoom, Teams and Google Meet still cap participant video at 1080p or 720p, so a 4K webcam never transmits 4K in a meeting. A great 1080p camera beats a mediocre 4K one for calls — 4K only pays off for recording, digital zoom and crop-and-pan.

Trap 02

Light beats sensor

A $25–$50 key light improves your image more than upgrading the camera: a $60 webcam with proper front-facing light consistently outperforms a $300 webcam in a dim room. Buy the light first, then decide if you still need the camera.

Trap 03

The software tax

Auto-framing, tracking and manual image control all live in a vendor app running in the background — Logi Tune, Camera Hub, OBSBOT Center, Insta360 Link Controller — and Razer's Synapse is Windows-only, so the $400 Kiyo Pro Ultra's tuning controls simply do not exist on a Mac.
