Fit ledger — need → measured evidence
■ The catch — co-equal billing, always
You are paying $440 for an arm PCWorld prices at $330. Amazon's price has climbed from ~$300 in early 2026 to $439.99 while the hardware has not changed, and PCWorld's July 2026 update still quotes $330. This is the one pick here where the retailer matters as much as the product — check Ergotron's own store before you click buy.
Dealbreaker? Runner-up №1 costs $330 less and carries heavier panels ↓

Traps — this verdict avoids
Why the Ergotron LX Dual is right for you
It avoids every trap below — and for just me, no budget cap, it is the pick because it delivers:
Weight is a range, not a ceiling
Every spring arm here is rated with a floor as well as a maximum. Ergotron LX arms need at least 7 lbs per display, HUANUO's need 4.4 lbs — a 6-8 lb 24-inch panel sits under that floor and floats upward instead of holding position. Only the mechanical-friction arms (VIVO, WALI) have no minimum. Use the panel-only weight from the spec sheet, never the boxed weight.
Two screens means two VESA adapters
Several Dell, Samsung and LG consumer panels ship with no VESA holes at all. A brand-specific adapter plate runs $15-$45 each and you need two — and most universal kits are rated for only ~17.6 lbs, which then becomes the real per-arm limit instead of the arm's own spec.
One clamp carries both monitors
Two 20-lb screens plus hardware put roughly 55-60 lbs of cantilevered load on a single desk edge, and clamps have a minimum thickness as well as a maximum: Ergotron LX 0.63-2.6 in, Vari 1.375 in max, WALI and Mount-It! up to 4 in. HUANUO excludes glass and plastic tops outright, and no cross-beam may sit under the clamp point.
