Trap 01

Weight is a range, not a ceiling

Every spring arm here is rated with a floor as well as a maximum. Ergotron LX arms need at least 7 lbs per display, HUANUO's need 4.4 lbs — a 6-8 lb 24-inch panel sits under that floor and floats upward instead of holding position. Only the mechanical-friction arms (VIVO, WALI) have no minimum. Use the panel-only weight from the spec sheet, never the boxed weight.

Trap 02

Two screens means two VESA adapters

Several Dell, Samsung and LG consumer panels ship with no VESA holes at all. A brand-specific adapter plate runs $15-$45 each and you need two — and most universal kits are rated for only ~17.6 lbs, which then becomes the real per-arm limit instead of the arm's own spec.

Trap 03

One clamp carries both monitors

Two 20-lb screens plus hardware put roughly 55-60 lbs of cantilevered load on a single desk edge, and clamps have a minimum thickness as well as a maximum: Ergotron LX 0.63-2.6 in, Vari 1.375 in max, WALI and Mount-It! up to 4 in.
