The badge is not the band
Dual-band "Wi-Fi 7" routers — the Archer BE230 ($80), the Archer GE400 ($170), the Orbi 370 mesh — carry the logo with no 6 GHz radio at all, and MLO or 320 MHz channels give nothing to a phone or laptop from 2024 or earlier. Check the router's bands, then check your own devices.
Gigabit ports on a $600 router
A 10G headline port does not mean 10G everywhere: the $585 RT-BE96U and the $600 Nighthawk RS700S both hand you four 1-gigabit LAN ports, while the $197 RT-BE92U gives you four at 2.5 Gbps. Count the LAN ports, not the headline number.
The FCC clock, not a ban
On 2026-03-23 the FCC blocked NEW authorizations for foreign-made consumer routers. Nothing on this page is banned or recalled — but the waiver keeping firmware and security updates flowing to already-authorized models runs only to 2027-03-01. Only NETGEAR, Amazon eero and Adtran hold Conditional Approvals; TP-Link, ASUS, Ubiquiti, Linksys and Google Nest do not.
