Chamberlain's December 2025 Security+ 3.0 firmware — every new Chamberlain/LiftMaster opener with a white learn button — blocks Meross, Tailwind, Konnected and ratgdo at the protocol level. Only myQ works. Yellow, purple, red or orange means Security+ 2.0, where third-party controllers still run. Look before you order.
The fee behind the camera
Hardware price is not the price on myQ openers. Saved video needs myQ Video Storage: $40/year for 7-day history, $100/year for 30-day, and Alexa or Google on myQ needs a paid IFTTT plan (~$3/month) that can only CLOSE the door. Every retrofit controller here — Meross, Konnected, iSmartGate, Tailwind, Genie — charges nothing recurring.
A controller is not an opener
Retrofit controllers cost $29-$142 and install in under 30 minutes, but they need an existing motorised opener (roughly post-1993, with safety photo-eyes) — they do not replace the motor. A full replacement opener is $249-$600 plus $100-$200 for a professional install. Different purchase, different class.
