The number on the bag is the limit
EN/ISO 23537 publishes a comfort figure and a colder limit figure, and the name usually quotes the limit. A "Kelty Cosmic 20" is 31F comfort / 21F limit; a "Spark 30" is 39F comfort / 30F limit. Buy on the comfort number.
Ratings nobody tested
Feathered Friends and Western Mountaineering do not ISO-test at all — their 20F is a manufacturer opinion. Men's bags are usually marketed at limit and women's at comfort, so never compare the two numbers head to head.
Configuration is the SKU
Temperature rating, size, gender cut and zip side are separate products at separate prices. A Sea to Summit Spark long costs $30 more than the regular, and the $349 Spark is the 45F bag, not the 30F.
