Fit ledger — need → measured evidence
■ The catch — co-equal billing, always
eufy's privacy record has a documented hole in it. In November 2022 a researcher caught eufy cameras uploading to the cloud with cloud upload switched off and serving unencrypted streams through eufy's web portal; Anker admitted on 31 January 2023 that the cameras were not natively end-to-end encrypted, and eufy settled with the New York Attorney General for $450,000 in 2025. Buy the E30 on the strength of local storage, not the marketing — and note it is 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only.

Traps — this verdict avoids
Why the eufy SoloCam E30 2-pack is right for you
It avoids every trap below — and for family of 4, under $250, it is the pick because it delivers:
The plan is the price
Ring records no video at all without a Ring Home plan ($4.99 / $9.99 / $19.99 a month), and Arlo Secure now starts at $9.99/month for one camera, $19.99 for unlimited. Over three years an $80 Ring plus the cheapest plan runs about $260, and a $90 Arlo about $450. Reolink, eufy and Tapo charge nothing.
The box is not the product
The Blink Outdoor 4 kit ships with the Sync Module Core, which Blink's own tech specs say does not support Local Storage or Clip Backup — the bundle stores nothing without a plan ($3/month per device, $10 unlimited) or a separately bought Sync Module 2/XR. And the ~$180 eufyCam S3 Pro is the add-on camera: without an existing eufy HomeBase 3.0 it will not record at all.
Solar in the name, panel not in the box
The Reolink Argus 4 Pro, eufyCam S3 Pro and eufy SoloCam E30 all ship with a panel; the Tapo C460's A201 panel is sold separately. Battery figures are manufacturer estimates at 10-20 motion events a day — heavy live view, colour night vision and temperatures below 0°F cut them sharply.
