The answer — one pick, priced

Duo Crisp Ultimate Lid
right at your $250 cap
The only true pressure-cook and air-fry combo left from a major brand — 13 modes under one lid, with no second crisp lid to buy or store.
Fit ledger — need → measured evidence
■ The catch — co-equal billing, always
The air frying is the weak half. Reviewed got crispy tops and mushy bottoms on chicken thighs, and the yogurt function failed twice on Instant's own app recipe. Air fry here is a convenience feature, not a replacement for a dedicated fryer — if crisping is your main use, you are buying the wrong appliance.
Dealbreaker? Runner-up No.1, the Ninja Combi, crisps and bakes better — but never pressure-cooks ↓
■ Every product has a catch. Verdicts that hide it are how bad buys happen.

Traps — this verdict avoids
Why the Duo Crisp Ultimate Lid is right for you
It avoids every trap below — and for family of 4, under $250, it is the pick because it delivers:
Phantom quarts
The number on the box is total pot volume, not cooking capacity. A 6-quart cooker pressure-cooks about 4 quarts — the 2/3 max-fill line — and about 3 quarts of anything that foams, like beans, rice or pasta. Size up one tier if you batch-cook.
The 10-minute lie
Electric cookers hold 11-12 psi, not the 15 psi of a stovetop cooker, and need 7-15 minutes just to come to pressure. A recipe billed at 10 minutes is realistically 25-30 minutes from plug-in to plate.
The model number is the product
Rio, Duo Plus, Duo Crisp, Pro, Pro Plus, Pro Max and Chef Series photograph almost identically but differ in inner-pot material, functions and price — and the Pro Max is currently unavailable on Amazon while the Pro Plus is not. Match the model number, never the picture.
