Reolink Argus 4 Pro
no budget ceiling
One camera instead of two: a 180° dual-lens 4K view with ColorX night vision, a solar panel in the box, and no subscription ever.
Fit ledger — need → measured evidence
■ The catch — co-equal billing, always
You are paying a 20% summer premium. This bundle climbed from about $232 to $278 since July while Wirecutter's own 2026 winner, the Tapo MagCam, sits at $77. The extra buys 180° dual-lens 4K and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and nothing else — if one camera does not have to cover a whole frontage, this is the wrong end of the market.

Traps — this verdict avoids
Why the Reolink Argus 4 Pro is right for you
It avoids every trap below — and for anyone, no budget cap, it is the pick because it delivers:
The plan is half the purchase
Recurring cost regularly beats hardware cost. Arlo Secure Plus is $95.88/year for one camera or $215.88/year for all of them, Ring is $49.99–$199.99/year, Google Home Premium $100–$200/year and Blink $39.99–$119.99/year. A $220 Arlo kit plus the unlimited plan is about $868 over three years. eufy, Reolink, Tapo and Wyze cost $0 beyond the box.
No plan can mean no video at all
Ring and Arlo keep live view, two-way talk and motion notifications with no subscription but record nothing. Nest keeps only 6 hours of free event previews on the wired 2nd-gen and 3 hours on the battery model. Only microSD or local-hub cameras keep recording when your internet drops.
The bundle is the SKU, and the radio is the install
The most common return reason here is an install constraint found after unboxing. Pack count and bundle change every price: the Arlo figure is a 3-camera kit, the eufy S350 is an E220+S350 dual-cam bundle, both Reolink prices include a solar panel and a 128GB microSD, and the Blink price is a 1-camera system whose Sync Module Core does not support local storage. The Tapo MagCam, Blink Outdoor 4 and Wyze Cam v4 are also 2.4 GHz-only.
