Claimed range is measured on flat ground by a ~150-lb rider in the lowest assist. Real-world range at full power is typically 40-60% of the claimed maximum — the Heybike Ranger 3 Pro claims 90 miles and returned roughly 40 in testing. We quote independently tested figures at both ends.
No UL 2849, no ride
UL 2849 (electrical system) plus a UL 2271 battery is now required by NYC and by a growing set of insurers and landlords. Every one of the eleven bikes here carries both, verified on the brand's own page — after Rad Power's 2025 bankruptcy an uncertified bike is effectively unsellable.
Weight quoted without the battery
Lectric publishes bike weights excluding an 8-10.5 lb battery — the XPeak 2.0's "64.5 lbs" is about 75 lbs ready to ride. Over 70 lbs you cannot carry it upstairs or lift it onto most car racks, so weigh the configuration you are actually buying.
